There are some albums that you just need some time to get your head around, because they're feeling somewhat middle of the road. But you keep thinking that maybe there's more to it, that you just need to find the key. Arcane Wisdom, a band featuring former members of Sirius, is a somewhat experimental black metal band that affected me in just this way; their mix of modern black metal, folky music and some electronics kept yelling at me that "hey, there's some great melodies and riffs in here, so obviously you should be getting into this quite a lot". And now, after a couple of months, I've come to the realization that I'm completely unable to unlock this one. Arcane Wisdom is a fairly talented band, with plenty of good ideas, but lacking that final cohesion, the fine songwriting where everything locks together properly and opens up something wonderful. Some might be more apt to enjoy this band than me, perhaps fans of bands like Agalloch, and I do think there's a possibility that there might be something good coming from this band in the future, as their instrumental prowess is fine. The production is fitting and the great variety of their music shows that they're men full of musical ideas, but at the moment their music isn't quite "there" yet.
