From a secret lab in Transylvania (or perhaps even Sweden) comes this clone of Germanic power metal with features grafted from Helloween. As with many bands playing this style, Nocturnal Rites in fact is very good at what they do. The vocals are very palatable (a bit lower than Michael Kiske but still relativitely close) and the songs have the speedy anthemic feel. But there is something very...predictable about this whole affair. I feel like I've heard it all before and unless I have one of those afternoons where Gamma Ray, Hammerfall, Scanner and friends just don't do it, I could get my fix from Nocturnal Rites. Those afternoons don't really happen very often. Junkies of Germanic power metal will love this. Otherwise, it's just another commonplace monster to which we've all been desensitized.
