Not so much a real band, but a good-time party of various members of various ska bands, this record is nothing more than a document of friends getting together and reworking some rather famous songs into a fun traditional ska setting. Though somewhat a novelty record type concept, it works rather well, especially considering the musicians here are all very talented. Corey Glover (ex-Living Colour, or are they still around?) has never sounded so soulful on Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground" and the ska version of White Zombie's "More Human Than Human" makes a formerly menacing song a happy go lucky trip. But that is the lure of ska. Though it is a hybrid of reggae, punk, and even jazz, the vibe of the music is so infectious and upbeat that you can't help but have a good time listening to this record.
